Misery Mountain Ski Hill

Looking for a place to ski or ride that is close to home? For residents of Peace River it doesn’t get any closer to home than this. The Misery Mountain Ski Hill is located right in the heart of Peace River, in the majestic Northern Alberta, Peace River Valley. This hill has 2 lifts, both T-bars and a total of 19 trails. The breakdown of the terrain is 25% beginner, 30% intermediate and 45% advanced which provides terrain for all ages and abilities.

Misery Mountain caters mostly to families by providing a family friendly atmosphere and great introductory terrain. They are visited mostly by locals due to its central location but they also attract guests from the many surrounding cities and towns.

What you may not know about Misery Mountain

A new chalet was built here about 4 years ago that can accommodate a ton of people. It has a wide open eating area and also has a cafeteria, a rental shop and a guest services booth all built into one.

They also have a racing program here called the Mighty Peace Alpine Racers who travel all around Alberta competing in Alpine Racing events. For more info on this program click here.

Operators at Misery Mountain have implemented 2 programs called “Babes on Boards” and “Chicks on Sticks”. The programs were put in place to give women the opportunity to come out to the hill, learn to ski or board and make an evening out of it. The cost is only $10 per person and you receive 1 ½ hours of lessons from an instructor. It runs on Friday nights at 6:30 pm and is a great way to get out of the house and work on your skills.

On February 21, a local oil company called KUDU Industries kindly offered to front the bill for EVERYBODY’s rentals and lift tickets at Misery Mountain. All they asked in return was that you provide a minimum donation of $2 or a food donation in support of the Haiti Relief Fund.
